The end of the year festive season is here now, and we all are excited to make it as memorable as possible. From welcoming guests to buying new clothes, we are all privileged enough to fill each day with happiness and enthusiasm. While we have been busy making our festive season a memorable one, let’s not forget the plight of the parents of the children who are born with a hole in the heart. Congenital heart defects (CHD) are one of the leading causes of infant mortality. In India more than 200,000 children are born with a congenital heart defect every year. Of these, about one-fifth are likely to have serious defect, requiring an immediate intervention in the first year of life. Most of the parents of the children who are diagnosed with CHD cannot afford the cost of the live-saving treatment and hence often need our support to save their child’s life.
