How Charitable Donations Online Help In Child Heart Surgery

Image
When the lives of young children, the future of the world, hang in the balance due to a condition they have absolutely no control over, the future starts looking grey. In India, over 200,000 kids have a heart defect at birth, i.e, a Congenital Heart Defect, affecting their entire lives ahead of them. Most of them have to get not one but many surgeries of varying severity to combat this illness. Imagine the plight of a parent who has to see their child suffer from something as serious as a heart problem. To add to it, they find out the problem is critical and the child needs multiple rounds of life-altering  surgeries. Now, to add to it, the parents don’t have the affordability to fund the medical procedures. Just the thought of it gives you chills, doesn’t it? Here’s what we can do about it. Whilst we as individuals may not be able to directly provide the required medical aid to the child or reach out to the family, there is a way to help them alleviate their agony of having to see

Read how Parvati and Shyamji never lost hope for their newborn daughter, who was diagnosed with CHD

Parvati and Shyamji were elated to be expecting their first child. However, their happiness seemed short-lived. Their newborn daughter began to turn blue right after her first cry, as she came into this world. The doctors then told the couple, that their baby was suffering from a congenital heart defect . Though shocked, they were determined not to lose hope. They were willing to go the extra mile and do whatever was in their power to find answers. After the initial stabilization period, the baby was transferred to a private hospital where an echo revealed that she was suffering from a transposition of great arteries, a condition wherein the two main blood vessels of the body, the aorta and the pulmonary artery arise from the wrong chambers of the heart. The Smallest Baby to be Operated Upon in India for a Heart Disorder

Image
Thank God for the Small Miracles!  Shiv Seventeen years is how long Lalmati and Mohanlal had waited for a child to be born to them. Their happiness knew no bounds when Lalmati’s pregnancy was confirmed. They couldn’t wait to meet their little bundle of joy, and it seems, neither could he, for their little son, born at 28 weeks, was born 12 weeks premature, in his impatience to cuddle with his loving parents.  The premature birth itself was a terrifying ordeal for the family, with their tiny baby weighing only a kilogram, and it meant constant vigilance by doctors in the intensive care unit. He was being treated in a level III intensive care unit, under the care of vigilant neonatologists. Over the next 23 days, Shiv, as he was named by his parents, continued to lose weight despite tube feeding and the best of care afforded by the doctors. He was finally diagnosed as having a heart disorder known as patent ductus arteriosus(PDA). PDA occurs when there is an unwanted c

Common Heart Defects in Children

Advanced medical science and diagnostic research provides very detailed information regarding structural heart abnormalities.  Common Heart Defects  Some common types of congenital heart defects, that can affect any part of the heart or its surrounding structures, are mentioned below:  Aortic Stenosis: Aortic stenosis is one of the most common and most serious valve disease problems. A Congenital Heart Defect Survivor's Story

As a baby pushes its way out into this world, and takes that first tentative cry, a million dreams take birth in the hearts of the parents. Small dreams of teaching their child how to throw a ball, of the first day of school, or perhaps of watching him/her tie their own shoelaces for the first time. But what if the only dream you have for your child is that they are able to just live to see another day? This is often the plight of parents whose children are born with congenital heart defect. My experience of witnessing the true spirit of the little hearts, by Mr.Vinu Cheriyan, CFO and Director (Operations), Sennheiser, India

“We make a living by what we get We make a life by what we give” – Wintson S. Churchill Children's Healthcare Foundation It is that time of the year where we celebrate with our friends and family by thanking the year that went by and welcome the beautiful New Year. I generally spend this time planning the next year ahead for my organisation, mapping the next year for my family and myself. However, this time it was different, this year, we at Sennheiser wanted to give back to the society and spread the love we got from our consumers. As I woke up to check my daily schedule and meetings that were lined up for the day, I looked ahead for a special meeting. The meeting was special since I was to have an interaction with little children, an interaction that indeed was the most fulfilling one. I met Vaishnavi, Love and Vinni three kids at Max Hospital, Saket. All these three children come from under-privileged backgrounds, who have challenging (life-threatening) stories to
