This is the story of a sweet little angel named Aarohi Saini! Aarohi is the only daughter of Pinki Saini and Vinod Saini. The family lives in Galod, Rajasthan.
On 31st May 2020 Pinki and Vinod welcomed their little angel Aarohi into their life. Aarohi’s smile would light up the world for Pinki and Vinod and everything was going on perfectly smooth in their life. As a first-time parent hearing their daughter’s first cry and holding her in their arms for the first time was the most beautiful moments of their lives.
Aarohi’s congenital heart defect was not discovered until Aarohi was about four months old. During the first three months of her life, Aarohi, began to lose weight and was experiencing extremely labored breathing. The couple began to worry and the very next day Vinod rushed his daughter to the local clinic. At the local hospital, Vinod and Pinki were informed that Aarohi has pneumonia so Pinki began medication routine as advised by the doctor but Aarohi’s condition remained unchanged and she failed to gain any weight.
Vinod, who makes up to Rs 5,000 as a farmer, did not know what to do next. He grew more concerned about Aarohi’s health and wanted to make sure that his daughter is okay. He decided to show his daughter at the government hospital. At her first appointment in the government hospital in Tonk, Rajasthan, Aarohi’s pediatrician heard a ‘murmur’ and referred her family to Narayana Health Hospital in Jaipur for an Echocardiogram.
Vinod did not delay any bit of time and came to NH Hospital, Jaipur in October 2020 with his daughter and wife via public transport. At the hospital, the pediatrician conducted an Echocardiogram and identified it as a TAPVC (Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection) and explained that it consists of an abnormality of blood flow, where the pulmonary veins from lungs terminate at the right chambers, instead of left chambers, leading to an increase in lung pressure. Aarohi was in an urgent need of congenital heart disease treatment in the form of an open-heart surgery. Pinki and Vinod were in a complete shock after learning about their daughter’s heart defect. Aarohi’s heart surgery would cost around Rs 1.50 Lakhs and Vinod had no means to pay the amount for his daughter’s surgery.
“From the initial shock and disbelief to the devastation of knowing how serious Aarohi’s condition was and then the helplessness of knowing that our five-month old daughter has to undergo an open-heart surgery then to arrange the financials for her treatment, all that was the scariest and most devastating time of my life” – said Vinod.
When Vinod learnt from the doctor that Genesis Foundation could help support his child’s congenital heart disease treatment in the form of financial aid, he saw a ray of hope to finally see his daughter with good health.
Vinod and Pinky went back home to arrange some money for their daughter’s treatment. After a couple of weeks, Vinod and Pinki travelled again for two hours to reach NH Jaipur Hospital. With much effort and difficulty, Vinod and Pinki deposited Rs 18,700 with the help of their relatives for the surgery and surrendered their concerns to the doctor.
The doctor then contact Genesis Foundation for the remainder and Aarohi was operated on 9th November 2020. She recovered slowly after her open-heart surgery and was discharged on 21st November 2020. Vinod and Pinki were extremely grateful to the Foundation for the financial aid of congenital heart disease treatment.
Today, Aarohi is a healthy eight-month-old girl with an amazing smile and she loves to play around at home. Pinki and Vinod are happy to see their daughter growing healthy.
